El Segundo is a city in Los Angeles County, California on the Santa Monica Bay, incorporated on January 18, 1917. It is one of the Beach Cities of Los Angeles County and part of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments. The population was 16,033 at the 2000 census.

El Segundo is located at 33°55′17″N 118°24′22″W / 33.92139°N 118.40611°W / 33.92139; -118.40611 (33.921313, -118.406233).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 28.0 km² (10.8 mi²). 14.3 km² (5.5 mi²) of it is land and 13.6 km² (5.3 mi²) of it (48.70%) is water.
